Unearthed: Trail of Ibn Battuta – Exklusives Interview mit Ahmad Jadallah

Was sagen Sie dazu?

Q1) You´ve announced Unearthed: Trail of Ibn Battuta a few days ago and shown the first debut trailer. When did the work start on this title and how many developers/staff are involved so far?
The work started about a year ago. Semanoor International (which Semaphore is a subsidiary of) has 150 staff members all over world and the game team size grows and decreases as necessary during different points in production.

Q2) On your official website we can read that the game will be released in several episodes. How many episodes will the game have and how much will the individual episodes or the full game cost?
We have a clear idea about how the story will unfold and where its heading but the exact episodic structure is developed organically, and we try to incorporate player feedback and suggestions as we go. Pricing will be announced as we get closer to release.

Q3) So far there are only meager details about the gameplay of the game. Can you say us some new information about e.g. the weapons, the enemy types or possible raid bosses?
In their adventure, Faris and Dania will encounter an alliance formed by a militia army leader, a weapons dealer and an antiquities smuggler who are after the same goal. This gives the enemy types more variety as you encounter mercenaries, mobs, and elite highly trained security personnel. Also, as a result of this you can expect to find a big arsenal of weapons that you can use in the game. In addition, there will be enemy take downs (both direct and stealth) as well as hand to hand melee combat. Finally, On-Rail shooting segments and situation specific play styles round up the experience in Unearthed.

Q4) Which landscapes can the players wait for? Only desert areas or others too?
The game takes place across the middle east. Although desert area is the most associated with the region in popular media, there are many other diverse environments that we can utilize. In addition, Ibn Battuta didn’t really spare any effort to visit every place imaginable so expect to see truly exotic locales.

Q5) Unfortunately, we also have to ask an uncomfortable question. Many news sites reported that Unearthed strongly looks like Uncharted. What are you saying about the accusations?
Not at all, this is actually a very good issue to cover. Without spoiling too much. We can’t wait for the players comments after they play the game when its released. That will be the real judgment if the game is similar to any other game or not icon smile Unearthed: Trail of Ibn Battuta Exklusives Interview mit Ahmad Jadallah As for the name itself (Unearthed), it’s based on the Arabic name “Al Rikaz” which means something of value (not necessarily gold) that is taken out from the ground.
